Upper eyelid surgery or brow lift?
Upper lid fullness comes either from lid skin or from a lowered brow pushing forehead skin onto the lid. If only the lid is operated on when the brow is low, the brow can drop further, so both are measured separately.
A simple test
Gently lift your brow with a finger. If most of the lid fullness disappears, brow descent is an important factor. The decision is made at the examination.
Brow lift methods
- Direct brow lift: skin is removed just above the brow; preferred more often.
- Temporal lift: may leave a scar and may not lift as much as desired.
Both together?
Yes. The brow position is set first, and the lid skin to remove is calculated from it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my brow has dropped?
If lifting your brow with a finger reduces the lid fullness, the brow has dropped. Constantly raising the forehead to see is another sign.
