About Dr. Şeyda Atabay
Dr. Şeyda Atabay is an ophthalmologist who graduated from Ege University School of Medicine and has been a specialist since 2008. She practises in Bayraklı, Izmir, Turkey, with a focus on eyelid and periorbital (oculoplastic) surgery. She is also the founder of cosmetic R&D and manufacturing brands.
Training
She was born in Kütahya, Turkey, in 1978. She entered Ege University School of Medicine in 1996 and graduated in 2002. She completed her residency in ophthalmology at Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital between 2002 and 2008, with a thesis on conjunctival tumours and their treatment, and became a specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery in February 2008.

Her clinical work covers eyelid and periorbital surgery, cataract surgery and laser vision correction.
Approach to eyelid surgery
She gives priority to the health of the eye and the protective function of the lid. Separating excess skin from ptosis and brow descent in the upper lid, and deciding whether lower lid fat should be removed or preserved, are central to her planning.
Scientific work and memberships
According to her CV she has 15 scientific publications and 22 posters presented at national and international meetings; a referenced list will be added here. She is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Turkish Medical Association and the Izmir Medical Chamber.
Cosmetic R&D and entrepreneurship
Building on observations from clinical practice, she founded cosmetic brands working in skin science research, development and manufacturing. She served for four years on the Cosmetics Committee of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce.
