Is eyelid surgery painful?
Eyelid surgery is usually done under local anaesthesia; you feel only a brief sting from the numbing injection. The operation itself is not painful, and the mild tightness and burning afterwards settle with simple painkillers.
During surgery
The lid is numbed with a fine needle. You may feel touch or pulling, but not pain. Sedation can be added for anxious patients.
After surgery
Tightness, mild burning and watering are normal on the first day. Cold compresses ease both pain and swelling. Severe or increasing pain is not expected and should be reported straight away.
