Recovery after eyelid surgery
Swelling and bruising usually peak on day 2–3 and largely settle within two weeks. Upper lid stitches come out on day 5–7, and most people return to desk work in 3–4 days.
Short timeline
- First 48 hours: cold compresses, head raised.
- Day 3–4: back to desk work (upper lid).
- Day 5–7: stitches removed. Dissolvable stitches can be used where needed.
- Week 2: most bruising gone, back to social life.
- 2–3 months: remaining swelling settles, the scar fades.
If you are travelling
International patients usually plan a stay that covers the examination, surgery, a check-up and stitch removal. Follow-up after you return home continues by message and video call.
