What is the right age for eyelid surgery?
There is no fixed age; the decision depends on the lid and the health of the eye. Cosmetic surgery is considered after 18, and older age alone is not a barrier if general health allows.
Common at each age
- 20s–30s: inherited under-eye bags.
- 40s–50s: excess upper lid skin, brow descent, under-eye bags.
- 60+: skin blocking the visual field, lower lid laxity.
Who it does not suit
Significant dry eye, active thyroid eye disease, uncontrolled general health problems and unrealistic expectations.
